New Bridge Completed on the Phoebe Trail

By David Felfoldi · August 19, 2026

This week, the Silver Lake Civic Association completed another improvement to the Silver Lake trail system with the installation of a new bridge on the Phoebe Trail.

Unlike some recent trail projects, this was not a replacement. Until now, hikers crossed directly through the creek at this location. The new bridge provides a safer, more durable crossing while also reducing foot traffic through the creek itself.

The bridge uses the same design and construction approach as the bridge completed earlier this year near Brittany Club. This project also had an important community connection: Eagle Scout candidate Andrew Cox led the bridge construction, working with volunteers and under experienced supervision to complete the project.

The project came in approximately 35% below the cost of the earlier Brittany-area bridge. We were able to reduce the cost because a professional construction crew was needed only for installation of the concrete piers, while Andrew and his team handled the bridge construction itself.

Projects like this are part of SLCA's ongoing work to maintain and improve the trails, waterways, woodlands, and other natural areas surrounding Silver Lake. Membership support helps make these investments possible and allows us to continue maintaining a trail system enjoyed by residents throughout the Silver Lake community.
