The City of Brookhaven announced that they will hold a community information meeting on the Ashford Dunwoody Road–Windsor Parkway Safety Improvements Project:

Why this project matters to Silver Lake
The Silver Lake Civic Association’s (SLCA) mission includes conserving and maintaining Silver Lake, the surrounding woodlands, waterways, and community trail system. SLCA members reach Silver Lake on foot, by bicycle, and by car from neighborhoods throughout the surrounding area. Because there is no member parking on the property, access to Silver Lake and the surrounding woodlands, waterways, and trail system is an important consideration for the association and its members.
Safe access to these resources is therefore directly relevant to SLCA and its members.
SLCA is sharing information about this meeting because the project directly affects access to Silver Lake and issues important to our members. Members and residents have also raised concerns about speeding and traffic, stormwater runoff and water quality, tree canopy, right-of-way impacts, and pedestrian and bicycle safety.
SLCA is not taking a position for or against the proposed project or any particular design element.
Who should attend the meeting
Members and residents are encouraged to learn about the project directly from the City and reach their own conclusions.
This is a community information meeting, not a protest, rally, or formal public-input hearing. It is an opportunity to hear directly from the City about the scope, funding, design, and tradeoffs of this specific project.
The City says the meeting will provide an overview of the proposed project, including:
the roundabout, pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, stormwater improvements, right-of-way, tree impacts, project funding, and next steps.
The proposed improvements include a modern roundabout; approximately 1,100 feet of shared-use path along Ashford Dunwoody Road; approximately 750 feet of shared-use path along Windsor Parkway; completion of missing pedestrian connections along both roads; new stormwater infrastructure; and utility relocation.
What attendees can expect to learn more about
how much of the project is expected to be paid through federal and state grants and how much would be paid locally;
how the pedestrian and bicycle components relate to the project’s scope and funding;
what right-of-way is required, how affected property owners are compensated, and what opportunities may exist to reduce those impacts;
what changes the City has made or is considering in response to environmental, property, traffic, and safety concerns; and
how potential changes to the project could affect its scope, impacts, funding, cost, and schedule.
The City has also clarified the scope of the meeting:
The Ashford Dunwoody Road/Windsor Parkway Safety Improvements Project is the only funded transportation project currently planned for this area. While all questions are welcome, the meeting will focus on the scope of this specific project.
Residents who support the current design, oppose portions of it, or are still deciding are encouraged to attend, hear the project details directly from the City, ask questions, and reach their own conclusions.
